    This article defines a keystone species and explains its importance in a community. It explains how to identify keystone species and how they are interdependent on many things.

    A book that is an excellent resource for the Gulf Coast. This is the book I use as my textbook for Aquatic Science. Excellent field guide to the species found on the Gulf Coast.

    A great, easy description of whale behavior. Even though, it is short it describes every behavior I observed while doing research. Great pictures.
  • Steven, Katona, Rough Valerie, and Richardson David. A Field Guide to the Whales, Porpoises , and Seals of the Gulf of Maine and Eastern Canada.
    This is an excellent resource, an extremely colorful book. It is very useful in the identification of whales and dolphins. It is filled with fascinating photos and facts.
  • Stevick, Peter T. "A Census Program for Large Vertebrate Marine Predators in the Gulf of Maine." (2005): 1-23.
    This article was given to me by one of the researchers on my project. It explained predator relations in the Gulf of Maine and the effects of over fishing.
  • William, Johnson, and Allen Dennis. Zooplankton of the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. John Hopkins UP.
    Great book when used in the identification of copepods along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. I used this resource in the identification and counting of the Calanus samples we retrieved in a hot spot in the Gulf of Maine.

    This video is part of an Eyewitness series. It explains many myths about sharks and shows many species of sharks that students are not familiar with.
  • Sharks, National Geographic Video 1995
    Excellent video showing sharks in many settings. This video explains the fishing industry in Japan. It shows the many uses of sharks in Japan's economy. Also, it shows the use of a chain suit in research of sharks.
  • The trials of Life "Hunting and Escaping", Turner Home Entertainment, 1992
    I used the clip of the Orca's hunting to describe the amazing hunting techniques of the Orca. I also used the clip on walrus's and seals to show the lifestyles of pinnepeds.
