Hook
You will work in groups of 4-5 and use the Internet to locate and choose an Antarctic field station. You will collect and record its weather data. You will organize the data in a logical order, graph the data using an appropriate graph and interpret the data.
Materials
Each group of 4 to 5 students will need:
access to the Internet
recording paper for weather data
colored pencils or markers
graph paper
poster paper
Outdoor weather station in a sheltered region on the school grounds (optional)
Procedure
Discussions Questions/Extensions ......
Are there "trends" in temperature that you see between home and the Antarctic?
Does the temperature decrease at the same time? Increase? Go in opposite directions? What might be the explanation for the trends that you see?
Do all Antarctic stations show similar trends? Compare and contrast the data from different stations.
