Continued Collaboration with Research Team Members
Type of Interaction / Outcomes / Dates / Locations / Parcticipants:
An initial information session from 3:45-4:05 at a middle school faculty meeting on October 8, 2002, resulted in many requests for further information on the TEA program and interest in the collaborative team.
How are you sharing your research experience with your colleagues, district, community, etc?
I have not yet conducted my field work and therefore have not had an opportunity to do any transfer work. However, I have begun to talk about my upcoming trip with my current 8th grade class in the hope that they will log on and follow my field experience next school year. We are also starting a unit this month on erosion in which we cover continental glaciers. At that time I will be showing a video on Shackelton's voyage (which ties in with a unit on explorers) and teaching about the use of ice cores to track climate change, in addition to the general geology of continental glaciers.
