Additional Comments: It is extremely difficult to get students and teachers involved during a summer field experience. i would stronlgy recommend that a connection be set up ahead of time, perhaps with a summer shool class. It's discouraging to receive so few student e-mails.

Continued Collaboration with Research Team Members

Type of Interaction / Outcomes / Dates / Locations / Parcticipants: I have stayed in contact, by e-mail, with Dr.Jackie Grebmeier, my chief scientist and with one of her graduate students.

Dr. Grebmeier and her husband, Dr. Lee Cooper (chief scientist on "my" SBI cruise) will be coming to VT on Feb. 1 to visit with my students and the students of my mentor/collegue group.

In March, I will travel to Miami for a follow-up meeting of all the scientists involved in the SBI program.

How are you sharing your research experience with your colleagues, district, community, etc? I gave a presentation to the Delta Kappa Gamma, a group of women educators, on October 15.

My superintendent interviewed me for a local, cable access television program. The 1/2 hour show ran for the month of October.

I have continued to work with my mentor/colleague group.

Other Classroom Connections: I have used my own journals, parcticularly those related directly to the carbon cycle, with my biology classes.

I presented my power point to my classes just before our December break.
