Additional Comments: It was a spectacular experience for myself, students, teachers and community! The learning that was experienced will last a lifetime! My email contacts were limited due to the remotness of my placement in the field.

How are you sharing your research experience with your colleagues, district, community, etc? I have gave 4 presentations to different community organizations. I have presented two sessions at the state science teacher's conference. My mentees and I met for a 16 hour workshop over the summer. I have presented to middle schools and elementary schools within my county.

Other Classroom Connections: Coordinator of SnowSTAR 2002 data collection from 6 schools in Alaska. Schools were involved in having students keep a detailed record of snow and weather for the year. These records were in turn given to the researchers to use as a part of their study. Implemented to 8th grade teachers in school lesson on snowflakes, formation and design.

4. Other TEA Activity Involvment


Collaborated with new TEA from NC for the 2003/2004 field session. Met extensively with writer from Alaska, Charles Wohlforth in October on Research in the Arctic. 15 hours of contact Wrote arcticles on research experience to Mountainwoman.com Attendance of advisory board meeting in January 2003 Use of Arctic trunk from March 2002-September 2003
