Classroom Transfer

How are you sharing your research experience with students? I was in the field from January 1998 until February 1998 on the LM Gould. Prior to going, I had publicity on the trip in the local and Houston newspaper and on one TV station. The emphasis was always placed on the program and its goals.

Upon returning, I have presented to:

    * teachers within my district (10),
    *a class of student teachers (20),
    *a parent/student science night in Clear Creek District (40)
    .*arrangements have been made for two presentations at a middle school (500students)
    *arrangements are being made to present to 8th grade science classes (200)
5/15/98 - 5/18/98 = TEA Orientation @ NSF ~25 parcticipants; Presentation on Living & Working in AA w/Carole Bennet, Tom Geelan, and Linda Wygoda; Prestn on TEA Outreach materials w/ Carole Bennett and Tim Buckley

6/2/98 = University of Houston Clear Lake - Education Methods Class (taught by Sally Wall) Slide Presentation and activities on incorporating AA research into the classroom

7/26/98 - 8/1/98 = TEA Activity Workshop in Houston; Presentation on Inquiry-based activity format; Activity produced: Biochemical Responses to Light - suite of 3 actvities based on field research - on web

8/10/98 = After school workshop for teachers on AA and incorporating into the sclassroom ~ 15 present

11/9/98 = AA presentation for parents and students on AA at Seabrook Middle School for Sally Wall; Classy Penguins activity; AA map donated

1/27/99 - 1/28/99 = Two Slide Presentations at Sablatura Middle School ~ 100 each day Total = 200

2/22/99 = Silverlake Elementary teachers orientation to AA materials ~ 8 present;AA map donated

2/24/99 = Silverlake Elementary Slide Presentation to 150 students for 2nd graders; coloring sheets on penguins and icebergs developed and presented to teachers

3/13/99 - 3/16/99 = LTER Begin Education Inititive for LTERPalmer with Karen Baker in San Diego, CA; presented outreach materials and activities
