How are you sharing your research experience with your colleagues, district, community, etc? I have been sharing information gleaned from TEA journals and my personal readings with my colleagues and students. Once I receive my assignment I will be able to be a bit more specific about my upcoming experience. I have 2 speakers scheduled for school for the upcoming quarter. In 2003 I will be working informally with a small group of teachers at our local elementary school to include them in our info network.

Presentations and Real Audio Sessions

Presentation Date, Title, Number of Attendees, Etc. none--I tried to hook-up for Real Audio sessions but was unsuccesful due to a) timing (I had other classes going on) and b)technical difficulties (our tech person was unavailable and our system was not being cooperative). We are working to make sure that real audio presentations will work more smoothly in the future.

Other Classroom Connections: I will be doing a 7-day winter camping trip with students in February. Part of the focus will be on cold climates and adaptations of plants/animals/and humans for survival. We will be looking at nutrition, clothing, and shelter.

Other Shared Costs

Our school has a program compensating us for Professional Growth activities. These activities include courses or programs done on our own time that relate to our teaching or will provide us with information that will enhance our teaching. Teachers in our Collaborative group will receive compensation for their hours. We earn 1 professional growth credit for every 20 hours of parcticipation. Upon completion of our credit(s) we receive a yearly salary increase comensurate with the number of credits we earned ($100-$125 per credit).
