Continued Collaboration with Research Team Members

Type of Interaction / Outcomes / Dates / Locations / Parcticipants: This collaboation was with Dr. Harritt. While in the field, we planned this project. Dr. Harritt initiated it, and helped with the guidelines. He was also present during the interviews via conference telephone to Orange, MA from Wales, Alaska.

Anna Ketulla. from NSF was also a major player in the project. She was present (as was Dr. Harritt) during the presentation. She also interviewed the students about their experience from the beginning of the project to the presentation. While in my second field season in Wales, Alaska. We interviewed 5 elders and one young person. The topic: their culture, what it was like growing up and living in Wales, and what they are presently doing. The students compared the subsistence living style to ours in Orange, MA. The year before, Ann Murray and I did an extensive research learning project with these four chosen students. They then interviewed during the field season. Upon returning to MA, they were given a tape of the interviews, and leaned how to transcribe them. They then wroten up the interviews. They added digitals that I took in Wales, and prepared powerpoint presentations. We the proceeded to present to the local area public as well as theoughout the Orange school system.
