Field Experience

Continued Collaboration with Research Team Members

Type of Interaction / Outcomes / Dates / Locations / Parcticipants: I traveled to Kotzebue, Alaska on July 22-24, 2002 to work with Dr. Clough on a new research project she is completing contrasting Native knowledge to traditional scientific knowledge.

I also got my classes involved in ALISON (Alaska Lake Ice and Snow Observatory Network) with another TEA PI, Dr. Martin Jeffries of the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. This began in December 2002 and continued through April of 2003. Martin Jeffries visited my classroom in December of 2002.

July 11-15, 2002 Met with Betty Carvalles. Betty got a tour of Nome and its surroundings, she also helped to organize a tour of the USCGC Healy for 9 students, 9 parents, as well as Nome Public School's superintendent, Stan Lujan and business manager, Amy Lujan and two teachers, Tome Brannan and Lisa Leeper.
