2. Community / Colleague Outreach

Transfer

How are you sharing your research experience with your colleagues, district, community, etc? I have organized my mentor group at my High School. It consists of four teachers in Biology, Physiology, Chemistry and Physics. I developed my mentor plan with their input. We will be focusing in on the research done in Antarctica. Together we have written two grant proposals, a local one through the Salem Schools Foundation titled "TEA-Titans Experiencing Antarctica" and a Toyota Tapestry grant titled "90 degrees South, a Polar latitude with a Scientific Aptitude" Both proposals seek money for equipment to do real research in our classrooms that relate to Antarctica. Such as a Mini-Refrigerated Ocean Aquarium, or a Solar Telescope.

Should be a grand year! I will be getting my mentors and students parcticipating in research.

I look forward to spending a summer learning of my research assignment.

I will be in Antarctica communicating with my students.
