How are you sharing your research experience with your colleagues, district, community, etc? I shared my research experience with 26 teachers at the TEA Regional Workshop that my mentorees and I facilitated April 22-24.

I have scheduled two community presentations for the Spring of 2005, one at the Los Penasquitos Canyon Wildlife Preserve Naturalist's Lecture Series, and one in McCall, Idaho, at the Friends of the Library Winter Lecture Series.

Type of Interaction / Outcomes / Dates / Locations / Parcticipants: Much of our time this year involved planning and implementing the TEA Regional Workshop at Scripps Institute of Oceanography on April 23-24. We worked either at the site or at Helix High School, where both mentorees work.

Other Classroom Connections: I am teaching a new class this year, AP Environmental Science, and will incorporate an awareness of the poles as sensitive environmental areas. I will also incorporate the research that was done during my field experience.

I will also be modifying an assignment to address global warming that I got in an inquiry workshop at NSTA or using one from the TEA website if I can find one at the appropriate level. I will use this activity in Environmental Science and in Chemistry classes as well, since it involves making gas measurements.

Presentation at NSTA 2004 with TEA Kolene Krysl, "A Bipolar Experience," in which we desribed our polar experiences then presented several polar-related activites to the teachers present.
