How are you sharing your research experience with students? January 1998

    Elementary School Presentation - Grade 1 - Saint Lawrence Elementary School - Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Morning presentation on icebergs and penguins. Classroom lab on hypotheria and cold.

    Staff Development East Junior High School - recruited 3 Earth Science teachers to get involved in the TEA Associate Program.
February 1998
    Elementary School Presentation - Grade 2 and 4 - McKinley Elementary - Stevens Point, WI Classroom presentations on Anarctica - slides and hands on actitivities with ice.
April 1998
    Jefferson Elementary - K - 6 -Sheboygan, WI Scientist in residence. All School Assembly. Conducted classroom activities on temperature, ice, determining the volume of icebergs in 7 classes. Grades K - 6.
July 1998
    UW- River Falls - Presentation to parcticipants in graduate Theromdynamics course on Extreme Cold Weather gear and dealing with cold in Antarctica.
October 1998
    Sonar Lab Development - Intensive Physics Lincoln High School - Used video from Multibeam siesmic and Multibeam Sonar in Antarctica conducted on the NB Palmer as a starting point for understanding sonar and developed a student lab that models multibeam data using a sonic ranger probe for CBL.

Lincoln high School - Initiated Linux network to analyze multibeam data from research conducted aboard the Palmer.

Sons of Norway - Community Club - Evening presentation on Anarctica and Antarctic Science

Wisconsin Valley Academy - Teacher Math/Science/Technology Academy - Instructed a course on Internet resources. Spent one (1) day using TEA site as a model for using the Internet as an extanded classroom resource and developing grade level actitities.

TEA Associate workday to develop lessons for 1998-99 school year. Lincoln High School, Wisconsin Rapids. Worked with TEA Associates form East Junior High to develop lessons. John Muir Academy - Teacher Academy - Instructed a course on Internet resources. Spent one (1) day using TEA site as a model for using the Internet as an extanded classroom resource and developing grade level actitities.
