Date: March 12, 2001-present

Location: Knoxville, TN

Type of Interaction: I maintained contact with the team after returning from the field. I began working in the lab with my team in June. I have continued to work with them working approximately 10 hours a week during school breaks and 4-5 hours a week during the school week.
I am in the process of learning many aspects surrounding the data which was collected in the field. I have conducted sediment and grain size data and sorting, identifying and measuring core samples.

Classroom Transfer

How are you sharing your research experience with students? February 28, 2001 my students planned an assembly for all of the student body during the school day and for the community, school board and central office that evening. Students were responsible for the programs, invitations, ticket design, presentation, iMovie, graphics, displays, special visitors, and stage design. Approximately 900 children attended the 3 different performaces during the day and 150 that evening. April 3, 2001 I gave a presentation in Nome, Alaska to a classroom of 6, 7, and 8th graders. July 17, 2001 I gave a presentation for approximately 500 children at a Vacation Bible School. I have maintained my class web site which contains Arctic lesson plans which I have used in my classroom.

Activity:
Partner with new TEA's by attending the TEA orientation in New Hampshire in August 2001. I gave 4 presentations and attended the meeting all week.

I have maintained the TEA Arctic materials trunk. I will be going to the Oceans Meeting in Honolulu, HA February 11-15, 2002 and presenting a paper along with a power point presentation based on the TEA experiences and transfer to my classroom.

I am colaborating with a new TEA who will be working with my scientist in the field for the summer 2002. I am maintaining contact with her by phone and email.

I would like to be involved in helping the new TEA's prepare for the field. I also will continue to maintain one of the Arctic trunks.
