  3. Mark is preparing many radiosondes to be shipped to other CMDL sations. He taught me how to launch an ozonesonde and I thank him for all his help.
  4. Preparation for launching an ozonesonde:
    First step: Ian and I are laying out the balloon to be filled with Helium. This is done in a special balloon inflation hall.
  5. I am holding on to the balloon and parachute, letting out slowly to the ozonesonde... and still holding on....

  8. The Flatiron mountains in Boulder, a very popular hiking area . I have hiked the Green Mounain peak (8200 ft) which is in the back of these mountains. Boulder is located at 5400 feet altitude, a good preparation for the South Pole which is at about 9300 feet altitude! Many runners and climbers from around the world come to Colorado to train.
