We sail at 1400 (2:00 PM) tomorrow. We have been busy with last
minute checks of gear and lab materials. One last trip into the town
square to rub the toe of Magellan's assistant. The legend is that
all sailors rub the toe of the statue in the town square for good
luck at sea. We all do this.
The statue in the Punto Arenos town square. All sailors heading out to sea rub the toe of Magellan's assistant for good luck.
