It is my hope that through this remarkable opportunity our two communities and schools can learn about each other's cultures and environments, and help our students develop new friendships. From Los Angeles, California to the island of Diomede, Alaska. This is what my school looks like.
In Southern California where I teach, the weather is usually so warm that the young children eat their lunches outside in the shade because the sun is so hot.
One of the best things about working and teaching at Lanai Road Elementary is working with such a dedicated group of teachers. This picture shows the team of wonderful kindergarten teachers who I work with and share with every day.
It's my last day in school before flying to Alaska, here I am with my kindergarten class on the playground equipment. As you can see, my students and I are very excited about meeting the community in Little Diomede.
