I received a lot of phone calls tonight from well-wishers, those needing to ask questions to confirm plans, and calls from people needing to provide me with information for my upcoming journey to Palmer Station. The phone did not stop ringing until 3AM! Then, it started ringing again at 6:30AM! Needless to say, I did not get much sleep, but all of the encouragement was exciting.


The children gave me a bon voyage party the day I left for Antarctica.
