6 August, 1997Wednesday, August 6, 1997. It rained last night, today is partly cloudy, cool and breezy. There are noticeably fewer insects than yesterday. I check the cards at 2.5, it appears that I am not getting a lot more insects. At the bridge I observe a Longtail Jaeger. At the waters edge there is less bird activity. New people arrive today and I am happy to see a familiar face, the other TEA from Wisconsin, John Nevins. He is with the "permfrost people" and we exchange our feelings of excitement about being involved with this program. John is quite an outdoorsman with a lot of heavy-weight hunting clothes -- he is somewhat surprised at how warm it is here.
