Goal(s) of Meeting
To establish goals for the year for small groups. We are trying to improve the curriculum for Introduction to Physical Science (IPS). We came up with several core content topics in which to focus.

Overview of Session (e.g., resources used, discussion points, next steps, etc.):
The meeting was facilited by John and an adminsitrator (Kathy Dinmore). We left trying to decide the 6-8 integral topics in IPS.

How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session?
We looked at examples of pre and post tests that had been used in previous years when addressing the scientific method.

We agreed on six specific areas of IPS which we felt were integral to the course. We began looking at how to assess the process of science.

We all brought examples of assessments we had used in the past to assess the process of science.

How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session?
This meeting was also partially facilitated by Kathy Dinmore. She brought a perspective of what really constitutes the process of science.

To develop ways of measuring success in our 6 content areas.

Overview of Session (e.g., resources used, discussion points, next steps, etc.):
We worked on the first three of six content areas deveolping pre and post assessments for each area.

How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session?
We tried to remain consistent throughout the process so that all the IPS classes receive the same assessments.

We brought examples of different pre and post assessments and selected ones to be implemented immediately.

How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session?
We looked at how our assessments addressed the process of science and how we could better reflect that.

We continued to focus on specific content areas and looked at what we need to do for the spring semester.

How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session?
We looked at good examples from each of the parcticipants to insure that we were being consistent and providing the students with the best possible activities.
