How did your work with your team help you meet the professional growth goals you
set for yourself?
Our biggest goal was to utilize the talents, expertise and knowledge of our visiting researchers, Dr. Jackie Grebmeier and Dr. Lee Cooper. We think we did a good job! My own professional goal was to incoporate polar learning into the elementary and middle grades, and our work allowed that to happen.
How did your work with your team impact your content knowledge and pedagogy?
Working with my team and the district science committee 9one of my team members is also a member) allowed me to both update my own content knowledge (through shared resources) and my knowledge of pedagogy (through on-going discussions at team meetings).
What materials / resources / workshops did you
use / produce / host with your team members over the last year?
Our Big Kid-Little Kid Polar Event involved nearly 300 students from grades 4 - 12 in activities related to polar science and culture.
Based on the past year,
what ideas do you have to improve the effectiveness of
your team interactions?
Find more time to meet! It is extremely difficult to find time when we teach in four different schools and we are on different schedules.
