What is your role within your team?

What professional growth goals do you and your team members hope to reach through this partnership?

How will you and your team reflect on these goals and on learning and classroom practice (e.g., pedagogy, the use of technology, content, the process of science)?

Mentoring Plan (Revised from Orientation)
At this point in time my mentoring proposal still includes the idea of reaching out to an elementary, a middle, and a high school teacher. Realistically however, I may not reach all levels and might work with three teachers from my school. My goal is to generate interest and enthusiasm for the Polar Regions and to incorporate inquiry and science as process into the curriculum. I will most likely use the broader concept of global change as a focus. Whether or not I attract teachers at each level, I will certainly involve all grades through my transfer plan.

I plan to get on the agenda for the district-wide in-service on August 24. Once I have identified a core group of interested teachers (generated, hopefully, by my presentation) we will meet to discuss how we might best utilize the resources of the TEA program and my experience. I hope to identify my three mentees and a number of teachers who wish to share the experience but who cannot devote 140 hours of time.

Once I have the mentee group, we will design the course of our Learning-Focused Relationship. The plan will be generated cooperatively; it will be flexible, and it will undoubtedly change and evolve throughout our association. I envision a series of seminar type meetings where we can share and discuss readings, brainstorm transfer plans, and jointly develop and critique classroom activities.

Note: My original plan was to utilize the Vermont Interactive Learning Network to reach teachers in high schools across the state. For a number of reasons I will not be able to complete 140 of direct contact this way. However, I?ll still use the VILN to spread the word about Polar Regions to teachers and students across the state.
