Goal(s) of Meeting To coordinate and facilitate a Science Olympiad team.
To conduct a school wide Science fair competition.
To share snow science experience from the NASA CLPX project.
To coordinate and plan water testing field trips with the Western NC nature center.
Overview of Session (e.g., resources used, discussion points, next steps, etc.): *Used rule book for Science Olympiad team. used Science Olympiad website for help on events. Coached 31 students in over 23 science displicines.
*science fair help books, web sites, suggestion from TEA mentoring resource group.
*Shared data collection techniques for snow science. Discussed NASA technology and implementation in school.
*Water quality field guides, brochures from the western NC nature center.
How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session? In all sessions science as a inquiry based subject was discussed and ideas were projected on how inquiry could be carried out. Science Olympiad as well as science fair highlight the process of science. Technology was used in the form of the internet and NASA technology.
Additional reflections: Successful Science Olympiad year - students took 2nd place at the Regionals which advanced them to the state competition.

Goal(s) of Meeting To attend the NSTA convention in Philadelphia, PA.
To collaborate with other TEA members and mentees.
To gather and share ideas on scientific teaching strategies.
Overview of Session (e.g., resources used, discussion points, next steps, etc.): Multiple sessions were attended on science inquiry based lessons.
Booths were visited and information gathered for future references.
Members were allowed time to collaborate with other TEA mentees and members on science teaching strategies.
How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session? All of the time was focused on various science content and teaching pedagogy with the process of science in mind.

Goal(s) of Meeting To coordinate and implement an Earth day Celebration.
To attend a science session given by Dr. Jane Goodall.
To coordinate and implement a Recycle competition.
Overview of Session (e.g., resources used, discussion points, next steps, etc.): Earth day websites, resource books.
Jane Goodall books and videos as resources for classroom implementation.
How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session? Kids were involved in a hands-on activity for the Earth day celebrationand time was spent on nature journaling.
Technology was used to research Dr. Jane Goodall and her accomplishments.

Goal(s) of Meeting To implement NC Standard Course of study for the 8th grade science curriculum in an inquiry based method.
Overview of Session (e.g., resources used, discussion points, next steps, etc.): Variey of books, resources, web sites of inquiry based science activities. new science laboratory at WJMS.
How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session? The entire sessions are focused on the content and process of science. Laura is a 1st year teacher so she is unfamiliar with teaching strategies and goals.

Goal(s) of Meeting To implement a strong science, inquiry based curriculum at two middle schools.
Overview of Session (e.g., resources used, discussion points, next steps, etc.): Sharing of equipment and resources between the two schools. Discussion of strategies that worked and failed and ways to improve the output of students.
How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session? *TEA website is still used as a resource site for activities and information.
