What is your role within your team?
To guide Jan through her experience, be a support for her and her TEA endeavors, plan and execute activities related to polar science with both Jan and Carolyn, and keep them up-to-date on polar science and TEA-related activities.
What professional growth goals do you and your team members hope to reach through this partnership?
We would like to gain a greater understanding of the methods of science by comparing our own professional experiences, as well as our TEA experiences. In keeping with the TEA requirements, we will create activities that reflect science inquiry and are in keeping with the National Science Standards. As a personal professional growth goal, I would like to learn how to better serve the TEA community as a member of the TEA Advisory Board.
How will you and your team reflect on these goals and on learning and classroom practice (e.g., pedagogy, the use of technology, content, the process of science)?
Our success as a team will be evidenced in the posting of activities on the TEA website, presentation of these activities at local and national meetings, and in the successful implementation of these activities in our classrooms. Carolyn and I will be working on an inquiry workshop that will involve several teachers from a variety of disciplines at Mother of Mercy High School.
