What is your role within your team?
I am a member as well as the organizer.
What professional growth goals do you and your team members hope to reach through this partnership?
We are hoping to increase students' knowledge of science processes as well as scientific presentation skills.
We are working to become more knowledgeable about the Arctic and Antarctic not only through science but also including geography and cultural aspects. We are also working to integrate literature and writing into these studies.
How will you and your team reflect on these goals and on learning and classroom practice (e.g., pedagogy, the use of technology, content, the process of science)?
Students will create science 'work samples' that will be scored using the Oregon science benchmark scoring guides.
Presentations will be evaluated using the speaking guidelines for the state of ORegon.
Mentoring Plan (Revised from Orientation)
We have been meet routinely since last summer to plan a student science conference and infuse many portions of the Jason Project FROZEN WORLDS curriculum into our classrooms.
We have shared teaching strategies and field trip opportunities.
