How did your work with your team help you meet the professional growth goals you set for yourself?
One of my professional goals was to find a way to integrate what I was doing with my research team in the field with my current teaching assignment. Additionally, I wanted the individuals i was mentoring to be able to use the stuff we produced as well as feel like they "were getting something out of the experience and contributing to the experience. What we were able to develop was an activity that is identical to the type of research that my Antarctica team was conducting on dry valley soils; even to the point of using Antarctica soils with my students. This activity was pulled together through the help of Dr. Virginia (Dartmouth) and Dr. Barrett (Dartmouth), Peter Mitchell (Hanover High) and Jeannie Kornfeld (Hanover High).

How did your work with your team impact your content knowledge and pedagogy?
The research that I conducted in the field as well as the development of the activity furthered my knowledge in the field of acid/base incubations and acid/base traps. This experience also allowed me to make real world connection with what I was teaching and how the information and data could be used to solve a current problem.

What materials / resources / workshops did you use / produce / host with your team members over the last year?
1. Lab Activity: And You Thought It Was Just Dirt 2. The evolutionary history of Antarctica (flora/fauna/geological) 3. various worksheets and readings 4. several power point presentations 5. several videos

Based on the past year, what ideas do you have to improve the effectiveness of your team interactions?
I organized my team in the following way: 1. We worked on a common project, something that we all could contribute with and get to know each other on. This also involved lots of one-on-one time with my team members. 2. Developed individual projects that could be used by the individual team members. At this point I would like to decrease my one-on-one contact with the members so they become individuals and not always looking to me to "provide everything". Also, I would be something they felt passionate about and could bring back to the team. To date I have only completed number 1. I am searching for ways to make it more effective for the team to accomplish number 2.
