Explain the idea of collaborative group and to set up unified curriculum throughout the year to save time and work together on new ideas.

We looked at how each of us has broken up our years in the past and tried to find ways to stream line our units so we can work more effectively. Each person brought new ideas as I explained TEA and we hit lightly on how we could put TEA into what we teach throughout the year. The main topic related to the first unit of the year and stream lining our units together.

Goal(s) of Meeting
We parcticipated in an inservice on Ed-Line. This is a new tool our school district has allowed us to use that allows teachers to post their grades through the internet. Both parents and students have pass words that allow them access. Not only are grades posted but current events, questions, worksheets.

Most of the time was spent trying to reestablish ourselves with Ed-Line. We discussed that next time we could set up questions and explain how TEA journals can be checked by putting a link on Ed-Line.

How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session?

Additional reflections:
This was more of an inservice but our group of Beth, Barb and myself worked through this together. I do not know if this is considered collaboartive time but our disccusions on Ed-Line can or could be used was directly related to our working together as a group.

Learn various strategies establish good inquiry lessons as well as implementing them into an already busy curriulum. Tour of Science Museum.

As a group we critiqued various lessons and tried to adjust them to make them more inquiry based lesons. We followed this up by adapting one of our own lessons that we have used tin the past and adjusted it to be more inquiry based.

How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session?
The process of science was the key of the inquiry approach. Allowing studnets to test their own knowledge while still having control of the main product.

Alignment of curriculum and plan cells unit to help set up labs and set up new ideas. Implementing inquiry lessons as well as the use of Vernier probes and software.

We worked after school to set up different lessons in our unit on genetics. Each person brought a variety of ideas and all of their resources to wade through.

Plan an inservice we are putting on titled "Connecting with Scientists"

We corelated our presentations so each was not going to cover what the other had. Karen was talking mainly about the JASON project and how to get students interested and I talked about TEA and SEA and how science can be brought into their rooms through online journals, e-mails and direct parcticipation.

Inservice other teachers on opportunities to bring 'real' science and scientists into the classroom titled 'Connecting with Scientists'.

We had 8 teachers from the local elementary and middle school attend. Parcticipants were interested in the different opportunities as well how the can be parcticipants with direct involvement...TEA associates!

I had made a power point to show the different aspects of TEA and SEA to the parcticipants.

Planned for after the holidays. Set up new inquiry lesson.

We set up lessons on the levels of organization and units on the skeletal and muscular system.

How did your team address pedagogy, content, the process of science, and the use of technology during the session?
One of our goals this year was to implement more inquiry based lessons into out units. For this lesson we had the students trace one of their partners on a large sheet of paper. They were to then place abot 20 different organs into the correct place and then write their functions. We later crossed referenced them with correct answers and had them make changes and adjustments.

We e-mailed curriculum directors and different teachers in our networks.
