How did your work with your team help you meet the professional growth goals you
set for yourself?
How did your work with your team impact your content knowledge and pedagogy?
Our
What materials / resources / workshops did you
use / produce / host with your team members over the last year?
Due to the interuption of my field experience and "recovery" not a lot of new materials, presentations, etc. were accomplished during the 2003-2004 school year. We also had a new principal starting this fall, which made it difficult for us to apply for things, knowing that she might not approve it.
Based on the past year,
what ideas do you have to improve the effectiveness of
your team interactions?
Now that we have our new principal, we need to begin applying for additional experiences, trainings, etc. There were many things for which we were afraid to apply not knowing her support of the project.
In addtion, since our "chemistry" as a team is often noticed, we need to work on presenting at local and national workshops about integrated instruction and sharing our experiences (pros and cons) as well as the units we have developed. (especially our exploration unit- with the huge Antarctic influence). We hope to present at next year's magnet conference.
Finally, planning time will always be an issue, but we are getting better at co-planning with our ESE teacher, Cindy. We still need to be better at planning more in advance, allowing her to get more comfortable with the various core subjects in which she co-teaches.
Total hours of collaboration with each team member:
Sarah Vanzytveld-
Linda Fryer-
Tin Nguyen-
Cindy Minick-
Additional reflections:
Our team continues works very well together and our units have been “noticed” by all of our administrators. We are still figuring out how to reach our high population of ESE children, but the "chemistry" we have a team has helped us get through the tough times and learn and grow together.
