Farewell......
Last night the we were treated with a farewell from the sky....... the first
show of aurora borealis we had seen the entire time at the glacier. Light
green streams danced across the sky. I attempted to capture an image of the
lights on my camera, but to no avail.
This morning, Dr. Baker and I made a quick trip up to the glacier to better
mark the boreholes. Dr. Baker will be returning to the Matanuska in
October, and will conduct further work on this project.
After loading all the equipment, we drove to Anchorage and delivered the
materials to the Fed Ex office at the airport.
My time at the Matanuska has been remarkable. The people I have met, the
things I have seen, and all that I have learned have made this experience
indescribable.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all who have made this
adventure possible:
* To Dr. Baker, for his patience, understanding and willingness to include
me as part of his research team.
* To all those at TEA who have worked so hard to make this experience
possible.
* To the NSTA for believing this is a valuable program.
* And to everyone who has followed along with me over the past month.
Thank you so much for all of your support.
