Research Experience: Tracking juvenile bull sharks in the Indian River Lagoon
Research Objectives: The Indian River Lagoon system along Florida's Atlantic coast is a nursery ground for bull sharks. Tagging and subsequent recapture of young bull sharks will provide information on movements, population size, growth rates, and residency patterns. Active acoustic tags will yield information on small-scale habitat use, home range, and swimming behaviors.
Research funded by: National Marine Fisheries Service and Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund
Host Researchers: George Burgess & Tobey Curtis - Florida Program for Shark Research
