Background
Peter Amati did field research, studying sea ice in the Weddell Sea, during the months of May and June 1992,. Remember this is winter in Antarctica {Mid Winters Day is June 21}. Please note, clothing was more then adequate, NO body parts were lost!!

The conditions in Antarctica are unlike any you'll find elsewhere on the earth. When the average austral winter temperature in the Weddell Sea is about -32° C; and that at South Pole Station is about Russian base known as Vostok, is -128.6° C, then you know you'll need warm clothing.
