Field Experience

Were you in the field this season? No

Continued Collaboration with Research Team Members

Has a member of your research team visited your classroom in the last year?
N/A

2. Community / Colleague Outreach

Transfer

How are you sharing your research experience with your colleagues, district, community, etc? My research is referenced frequently in most of my classes. I share slides, discuss the polar environment, teach about sediment coring, and share information about the expedition regularly with students in Environmental Science, Oceanography, and Earth/Space Science classes. In addition, I am a guest speaker for the other Environmental Science teacher in our school and share slides with her students when we discuss the polar biome. The only class that doesn't have a lot of direct application is Astronomy . . . and even in that class I discussed the views that I had from both New Zealand and Antarctica as compared to the views from Indiana and other locations in the northern hemisphere. I also had my Oceanography students parcticipate in the activity that I posted on line about sediment coring. It worked very well, and I intend to have this year's students use it too.
