Additional Comments: Additional Comments: Most Students were out of school at this time. I did have one teacher send an e-mail with questions from their elementary school class shortly after I left, but my e-mail had not yet been switched to the ship by TEA, so the mail went to my school and I did not get it until after I got back, long after the students were out of school. Most of my mail came from friends and family (or their friends) who were following the experience through the TEA web site.

Transfer

How are you sharing your research experience with your colleagues, district, community, etc? How are you sharing your research experience with students? Slide presentation and discussion with Marine Biology class during fall semester. Most transfer will take place second semester with Physical Oceanography class and with Biology I classes during their Ecology/Ecosystems Unit.

Title: Sea Floor Mapping

Description:
Students in groups construct a sea floor in a shoe box and then attempt to map out sea floors of other groups.

Description:
Students propose a mooring assemblage from a menu of options to meet a set of requirements for data collection and location of mooring.

Description:
Student groups create sea floor sediment layers in a container and then swap with other groups to measure and interpret each group's sea floor.
