"Hungry" Math Problems for Homework: Figure out these important
hungry calculations! The answers will be posted tomorrow!
1) If each person consumes 1.5 tablespoons of butter a day in their
oatmeal, then how much butter is needed for six people for 27 days?
2) Each person uses one ounce of hot chocolate per cup and each
person drinks on average 4 cups of hot chocolate in one day. A
container of hot chocolate is 2 pounds and 7 ounces. So, how many
cans of hot chocolate are needed for 6 people for 35 days?
Food tastes, calculators, and food calculations were the topic of the
morning discussion. What to eat on a 5 week, 800 mile snow machine
trip? This was the question that had to be answered today. Food is
essential for warmth. The body uses the energy from the food to keep
the body warm. So, it is very important to plan food accordingly for
the trip. After the calculations were finished, we jumped in the
large truck and headed to the local Sam's club to shop, shop and
shop!!!!!
Buggies were pushed, food was gathered, questions asked, questions
answered during the trip to Sam's. After it was completely finished,
three large shopping buggies were full and $1200 was spent on food!
I hope this is enough to keep me full of energy and warmth. Besides
hot chocolate and butter, other items that were bought were: bacon,
sausage, oatmeal, bagels, kool-aid, cheese, lunchmeat, bread, peanut
butter, jelly, powerbars, granola bars, cookies, trail mix, nuts,
burritos, crackers, honey, chicken strip, meatballs, shrimp, steaks,
lots of pasta, carrot cakes, cheesecakes, cheesecakes, and lots of
chocolate!!!!! Remember everything will be constantly frozen --- so
no fresh fruit or veggies!
After all the food was bought, I was given the important task of
packing all of the food. This food will be towed behind the snow
machines on the sleds. So, it will be bounced and jostled around
heavily. 4 hours later, 9 rubbermaid action packers were packed with
food for the traverse.
Glen and his consumption of coccoa for 5 weeks! ! He looks happy with that much hot chocolate!!
Waiting in line with all of the food at Sam's club!
I was able to meet up with current TEA Shannon Graham and former TEA Marge Porter for an evening meal. It was great to see both of them again. Shannon is currently working with Dr. Martin Jefferies on lake ice.
The enormous food pile waiting to be packed into the Rubbermaid Actionpackers!
