2 August, 2004As others prepare for the beach today, I am packing my wool socks, gloves, hats and fleece. After months of talking about my expedition, I am almost ready to go! I leave for Tromso, Norway on Wednesday morning. I will arrive the next day with time to tour around Tromso before I must report to the ship. What about souvenirs for the folks back home? There won't be any shopping to do once I'm at sea, so I suppose I will buy postcards and goodies on Thursday while I play tourist. There is a press conference planned for August 6th and we board the ship and prepare to sail on the 7th. And then we are off to the Lomonosov Ridge in the Arctic Sea.
