It;s Just the Beginning!
We leave our orientation and training session today
with our heads numb with knowledge and our hearts
anxious with anticipation.
Over the next few months the twelve of us will await
our assignments (All we know to this point is which
six of us go to the Arctic and which six go to
Antarctica). We will be assigned to a researcher and
from that point on things happen quickly.
From this point we return home and begin preparation
for the upcoming school year and continue to study
about our regions, practice newly learned skills and
keep in shape.
I am extremely grateful for this opportunity given to
me by the National Science Foundation, Rice
University, the Cold Regions Research & Engineering
Laboratory and the American Museum of Natural History.
