Glen instructing Steven on how to take thaw depth measurements on the tower transects. The measurements are taken every week.

Steven is taking thaw depth measurements. He pushes the metal rod into the ground till it hits the permafrost layer. He then removes the rod and measures on the meter stick the depth. He will do this 3 times around each flagged point (there are 27 ) for each of the 7 transects. The numbers will be averaged to get a final measurement. This week the thaw depths went from a low of 15 cm to 38 cm.
