20 June, 2001
Wednesday, June 20th
Gordon left today to return to Maine. I will continue cutting core
samples and filtering the water unitl I leave on Friday. This has been a
great experience to come out to Denver. It was nice to get to know the
people I will be working with in Antarctica before we go. I have also been
able to get a better feel for the trip itself and to understand the science
being done. When I return to Cincinnat, I will have a series of doctor and
dentist appointments that will qualify me as healthy enough to withstand the
rigors of remote Antarctica. I am really excited about this adventure, and
I look forward to contributing to this international project.
