Remember Monday I talked a little about insulation.
Snow is an excellent insulator, preventing heat loss.
Fairbanks had some new snow a few days ago; therefore
ice growth rate will possibly decrease. See below
diagram of two ponds with different snow depths.
2. Notice the stakes along the 100-meter transect. Snow depth and snow temperatures are measured at each stake (total of 21 stakes on each 100-meter transect). Three snow samples are collected at each pond.
