The software makes it possible for teachers and students to simulate past and future climate changes, and it links the climate model to both a database and scientific visualization utilities, making it simpler to create and organize data and images. Widespread drying occurred over much of Europe and Asia, Canada, western and southern Africa, and eastern Australia. Found in an intermittent stream draining from the glacier, the evidence includes traces of dissolved organic material and high levels of nitrates, said Mark Williams, a scientist at Colorado University (CU)-Boulder. The high nitrate levels are believed to be a result of microbes metabolizing nitrogen within the glacier, said CU-Boulder graduate student Meredith Knauf.
