One of the many things that happened these first few days was short meetings about different aspects of the ship. We had talks on ping editing (more on that later), e-mail accounts, and lab set-up as shown here by Kim, the Lab Technician.

Safety is a big deal on board the ship. At one of the sessions we learned about putting on life vests and these orange survival suits. The ships' crew talked and we listened. Once we survived getting the orange GUMBY suits off, we were herded into the escape boat. These little boats come complete with food, water, heat etc. Everyone on the entire ship could fit into one of these special boats. Of course that doesn't leave room for much else.
