1 January, 1999Happy New Years Day from Beacon Valley: We all sleep late, rest. I change the generator on the stove and we have pancakes for breakfast. Except for Dave- he sticks with Dinty Moore. Eric tidies the tent, while I go through the rock boxes, consolidating and emptying some of them. I gather four bags of snow for water. Today is a big housekeeping day. In the afternoon, the guys all plot their pits on a big aerial map. It's an early night - everyone is out by 9:30 or 10. This is great; I am still suffering the effects of Drew's cold and the more sleep I can get the better. To sleep.
