12 December, 2001
Today was a weather day--no scientific work was able to be done. Very
cold and very windy. One of the jobs was to hook up power (batteries
again) to a seismic station at Abbott Peak, a dormant volcano. I was
looling forward to this, as it meant a helicopter ride. Maybe tomorrow.
I could name the winners of the Hearts card games, or give you the answers
to the Cryptic Crossword that two of our members slaved over for about two
hours. Or summarize a Short History of the World according to HG Wells ( I
read today). We are at the mercy of the weather here, and when we're
hut-bound it is a good thing that everybody gets along. Not much to
report.
I was asked to post this picture (not taken today) as it shows scale.
