What a bummer. I woke up this morning again expecting to head for Antarctica. Not only was the flight been cancelled but it has been cold and rainy here. There was no point in getting out in the rain to tour Christchurch because I could not enjoy it in these conditions. I do not think anything could overcome my disappoint about not flying out today anyway. I just stayed around here and read all day. I have been reading about one of the early explorers, Robert Falcon Scott. He and his crew started their journey to the South Pole at Murdo where I am going. They all unfortunately lost their lives to the harsh conditions and lack of supplies on their way back from the South Pole. Some of them got as close as 11 miles from a supply depot. What a heroic but tragic journey. Well maybe we will leave tomorrow.
