As a future Antarctic parcticipant, I have been trying to prepare myself for
the extreme weather conditions by enjoying Colorado's backcountry this
winter. These adventures have ranged from day hikes in Rocky Mountain
National Park, to climbing Mt. Bierstadt, a 14,000 ft. peak near Denver, in
January. I spent President's Day weekend at a cabin near Gunnison. One
photograph is of the thermometer at the "shack."
