This morning, I was able to go with the divers to the penquin ranch. They were going out there to help the scientist take pictures of the penquins underwater. They were nice enough to take me along. Each year, this scientist a certain number of penquins to the ranch. Cameras are placed on some so that they can be studied from afar. Holes are drilled in the ice near them so that their diving and underwater habits can be studied. After the research period is over the penguins are safely returned to their natural habitat.
I was allowed to view the divers filming underwater by going down a small tube which led to an observation room below the ice. The view was well worth all the trouble I had getting out of that hole!
