16 November, 2001Nov 16th- A Penguin!! I saw an Adelie penguin today!! He was out at the ice runway just walking along! He walked out onto the runway where a C-130 Hercules airplane was about to take off. I helped to shoo him out of there to safety!! He was the cutest thing!! I am so lucky to have seen him. Normally penguins do not come to the area around McMurdo. This penguin was 17 miles from the open water and 25 miles from his home! This rare sighting was amazing! I love penguins!!
