The Catch

Coordinates: Track the Bigelow.

I awake at 9 p.m. for my second midnight to noon shift. Because I didn't take dinner last night, 10:30 p.m. is the best time for a ham and cheese sandwich.

As we put on our all-weather gear, we get ready to take over for the noon to midnight shift.

Here are some examples of the diversity we are catching:

FourSpot Flounder

Monkfish (or Goose Fish)

Squid

We are able to complete four tows in the 12-hour shift. We break for breakfast at 7 a.m. And between tows there can be up to two hours of free time while the ship navigates to the next survey spot.

Today we went to the top deck and lounged in the sun for a while before our last tow of the day came up.

QUESTION: What is the name of the yummy Italian appetizer made from squid?
