I was contacted several days ago by a reporter, Margot Susca, who writes for The Journal Inquirer, one of our local newspapers. Margot heard about my involvement in ARMADA while attending a South Windsor Board of Education meeting. During the meeting, the school superintendent mentioned my selection to the board. Margo thought the program sounded interesting and set up an interview with me. The newspaper editor thought a positive interest story about the school would be good since we had just dealt with some nasty negative news. We met for about an hour this afternoon. I did my best to explain my research role, though since I haven't started, I'm not entirely sure exactly what I'll be doing. A photographer took a picture of me in my room in front of a shark poster I have. They seemed kind of disappointed that I didn't actually have a shark and a big shark jaw (I do have a tiny jaw). The article is scheduled to run on July 26, 2003.
