Marine Fisheries

I finally finished photographing today - woo hoo! I have a total of 86 sections to study. Some came out very good, others I'm not so sure even Lisa will be able to read. I noticed that Jeff's log page for his tiger shark sections had comments like "crappy" to describe how photogenic the section was. I wanted to write that in a few places too, but restrained myself. I did write "nice one" on the first nearly perfect section I had. I took double photos on some sections that were incomplete but I'll probably have to do recuts on those. Now I get to learn how to use the measuring program to count the growth bands. I spent the afternoon measuring each of my sections (the photos). There are about 6 steps to the program and it took me 2 or 3 slides before I remembered all the steps. Lisa is being very patient with me. Once I got the hang of it, measuring moved quite quickly. I discovered that 20 of my sections will need to be recut because they aren't complete enough to measure. So that will be tomorrow's task along with graphing my data when I'm done counting the growth bands.
