DAY 4: Thursday, August 14th/Friday, August 15th, 2003
Sometime late last night we motored to the whale station. We awoke this morning to knocking on the door to tell us right whales were all around. So we sprang up to see them. I love to hear their "blow" long before you can see them. There were lots to see with some floating/sleeping quite close to the boat. You know when they are going to dive to eat because their flukes rise above the water.
I ate breakfast and we motored away from the whale station after running some tests, to the adjacent Alexandrium station. We spent the day at the Alexandrium station where I quickly made the transition to a chlorophyll-ographer. Another words I spent the day filtering water in the lab. I was only a little miserable, as the weather had finally cleared. We could see Grand Manan Island on one side and Digby, Nova Scotia on the other.
Nancy now had enough time to process her own samples with a little help from Colleen. Colleen is still up working but I'll get up early to do the first site testing and let her sleep.
